Karnataka Jesuits

Ashirvad is situated in the heart of the city of Bengaluru. True to its name, Ashirvad has been a blessing to the city through its various inter-religious activities. The Karnataka Jesuits having heavily involved in the ministry of education had decided to diversify their apostolate in 1975 and as a result Ashirvad inter-faith dialogue centre was established with Fr. Ronnie Prabhu as its first director. Ashirvad organizes different activities in the field of dialogue such as regular bi-monthly prayer meetings; a small group meets twice a month to make an in-depth study of the Saints and Mystics of all religions. Another spiritual programme conducted at Ashirvad is an annual week-end residential retreat in a quiet scenic place like Dhyanashrama or the Benedictine Monastery.

Ashirvad also organizes for students and teachers of schools and colleges educative programmes in understanding religions, spiritual training programmes, retreats for students, Jesuit collaborators (JESCOL) programmes, and counselling. Centre for Social Concern is the latest venture of the province started in Ashirvad with Fr Jerald D’Souza as its first director. Those who wish to know more about inter religious programmes at Ashirvad may contact Fr. James Gonsalves, SJ, Director of Ashirvad IRHM, St Marks Road, Bengaluru 560001.
