The maiden meeting of the religious and lay DoWs of Karnataka Province took place on 5-6, March at Ashirvad. Fr Dionysius Vaz, the Provincial, in his formal welcome address, highlighted the purpose of the meet - a new initiative meant to better engage the religious and lay collaborators in our educational ministry. The speakers were: Fr Jossie D’Mello (on Gems from Jesuit Spirituality), Fr Jason Furtado (on financial management), Dr Vincent A. Vice Principal of Loyola Degree College, MSJ (on his experience as a Jesuit collaborator), Frs Rohan D’Almeida, Melwyn D’Cunha and Joseph Lobo (on NEP and its implications) and Fr Francis Fernandes (on Formation). On March 5, afternoon, the group visited the city institutions which included St Joseph’s College, St Joseph’s College of Commerce, St Joseph’s Indian Institutions, St Joseph’s Institutions (Jesuit Nivas). Other highlights of the meeting were an inter-religious prayer session conducted by Mr Sunny Gudinho, Principal of St Aloysius PUC, Harihar, and the concluding address by Fr Provincial on the Roadmap for Proactive Collaboration.
The group expressed its gratitude to Fr Provincial and Fr Jossie D’Mello for creating a platform for involving the lay collaborators in the vision and mission of the Society of Jesus.
